Sorry to see my favorite lead acting performance of the year (Tom Hanks in Captain Phillips) left off the list. Also sad that Inside Llewyn Davis managed only two nominations, both in minor categories. And bummer about Emma Thompson.
Not much in the way of happy surprises this year, though if Tom Hanks and Robert Redford had to miss out this year, I'm glad one of the replacements was Christian Bale, who was by far the best part of American Hustle.
